Abilene is located about 150 miles west of Fort Worth, TX between exits 279 on its west and 292 on the east (just off Interstate 20). A railroad divides the city down the middle into north and south. The historic downtown area is on the north side of the railroad.
The southwest occupies the fastest growing parts of the city. Many developments have begun in this area within the last few years.
